Last Friday, my boyfriend and I went on a 3-night Royal Caribbean cruise which left out of Port Canaveral (about a 2 hour drive from Jacksonville). It was so nice to get away from “normal life” and relax.
Our first stop was Nassau, Bahamas where we went to Dolphin Cay in Atlantis Resort. We swam with a two-year-old bottlenose dolphin named Finn at Dolphin Cay. We were able to “hug” and “kiss” Finn. It was an amazing opportunity (he was so cute!). He surprisingly already weighed almost 200lbs. After we were done with the dolphin excursion we spent the rest of the day at the Atlantis resort. Atlantis has three aquariums that we leisurely walked thru with frozen tropical drinks in hand. The aquariums contained all kinds of Bahamian fish including a large lobster tank and sharks. Once we were finished we headed back to the cruise ship.
The next day we arrived in Coco Cay. Coco Cay is Royal Caribbean’s private island. We spent a few hours on the island but since it was kind of crowded we headed back to the ship and spent the rest of the day at the pool. We practically had the pool (and the bartender) to ourselves!
It was the perfect weekend getaway. I was definitely not ready to get off the ship on Monday. I can’t wait to go on another cruise, hopefully next time I will be able to go on a longer cruise that visits Mexico and South America!
