Babymoon: Sea Island

December 5, 2018

Tommy and I went on our babymoon a few weeks ago. We decided to go to Sea Island, Georgia. I was almost 32 weeks pregnant when we went. Sea Island is only about an hour and a half away from our house so the drive is not long at all! We originally were planning on flying somewhere for our babymoon but decided against it because I was worried about not feeling comfortable on the flight and being so far away from home in my third trimester plus we only had three days for our getaway.

We left our house on Friday afternoon and headed up to Georgia. The drive was easy and we made it to Sea Island around sunset (We left our house late because we had people coming to drywall the nursery).

We stayed at one of the Sea Island properties – The Lodge at Sea Island. The Cloisters is where I originally wanted to stay because it is their main property but they were completely booked the weekend we wanted to go. The Lodge was great! It was very intimate and quiet, perfect for a couples getaway.

Upon arrival, we checked into our room and got ready for dinner. I booked dinner reservations in advance at The Georgian Room which is a five star restaurant at The Cloisters. There are shuttles that can take you between the Sea Island properties. The properties also have BMWs that you can sign out for a couple hours to get around the island or to the other Sea Island properties.

Dinner at The Georgian Room

We had dinner Friday night at The Georgian Room which was really fancy! They even have special stools that match the chairs that you place your purse or clutch on while you eat dinner. The food was served as multi-courses – you get to choose between a few different course options. Each course was very unique. I had the four course vegetarian tasting and Tommy had the chef’s tasting. They had a super extensive wine menu so I can’t wait to go back when I am not pregnant. The restaurant also had a whole cheese display which is wheeled over to your table and your server cuts off slices of cheese that you want to try.

Turn down service leaves water and cookies in your room every night!

We ordered room service for breakfast on Saturday morning. The room service was delicious! (Some places the room service is hit or miss, even at some nice places that I have stayed!)

After breakfast, we headed to The Spa at Sea Island. I made spa reservations as soon as I booked the babymoon. The Spa at Sea Island even has a massage service that specially caters to expectant mothers. Tommy and I got a couples massage so that we could be in the same room. The massages were heavenly!

Such a beautiful day!

After our massages, we went back to our hotel and played putt-putt on the green outside. Tommy didn’t feel very well so he took a nap in the room while I relaxed. We had dinner reservations that night at Colt & Alison which is a steakhouse at The Lodge. We had a drink (I had a mocktail) at the Oak Room downstairs before heading to dinner. From 5-6pm a bagpiper walks along the shoreline and plays music. We also got to watch the sunset which happened to be beautiful that night! Dinner that evening was delicious.

Last night of our babymoon

Beautiful sunset before dinner – they are re-doing the lawn!

Sunday morning we relaxed before heading back home. It was such a relaxing getaway and something that was so nice to do before baby Madison joins us so soon!
