Our Trip to Savannah, Georgia – how we explored Savannah with a 4 month old baby!

August 15, 2019

We decided to go to Savannah, Georgia for Memorial Day weekend. Savannah is only about a two hour drive from our house. We left Saturday morning and came back Monday afternoon – it was a nice weekend getaway!

I couldn’t believe that Tommy and I had never been there before for just fun (we were there for 24 hrs for a wedding almost 5 years ago!) because there is lots to do and it is not far from our house. We brought Madison so we didn’t explore the nightlife but I know there are a ton of fun bars there and there is no open container law so you can walk around with alcoholic beverages. Tommy and I want to go back sometime just the two of us for a little weekend getaway in the future!

We stayed at the Perry Lane Hotel which was awesome! The hotel is fairly new and so nice. The staff was very nice and accommodating. When we checked in, there were delicious cookies in our room (for free). Once we came back from exploring that night, there was a bottle of wine in our room too! And the bed was so comfy!

We had brunch at the hotel each day because it was included in the American Express Fine Hotels Collection package which is how we booked the hotel. If you don’t have an American Express Platinum card, you should definitely check it out! There are so many awesome perks – Delta Sky Lounge, Fine Hotels Collection, Uber credits, and more! The hotel has a small rooftop pool and rooftop bar. The frosè from the rooftop bar is amazing!

We had lunch on Saturday at Public Kitchen + Bar! It was a cool environment and the food + drinks were delicious! I would go back there. I had the Fried Green Tomato sandwich and a glass of rosé.

After lunch, we went to the American Prohibition Museum. It was pretty touristy but was cool to learn more about the Prohibition. At the end of the museum, they serve you “prohibition era” drinks in their speakeasy.

For dinner we went to an Italian restaurant, Corelones Trattoria. We walked there from our hotel. We walked everywhere while in Savannah (our car was parked at the hotel the whole trip!). The food was pretty good but I would probably try somewhere else next time! Madison was asleep in her stroller during dinner.

Peregrin is the rooftop bar at our hotel. The frosé was delicious!

On Sunday, we pretty much spent the whole day at the rooftop pool because it was soooo hot outside! We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers by the pool.

For dinner, we went to the Grove! It was really good! It has a cool atmosphere with a bar, restaurant, and rooftop area. We didn’t get a chance to go up to the rooftop.

The next day, we had brunch at the hotel again. We walked down to the river and explored some but it was sooo hot! We walked back to our hotel and then packed up and headed home. I really wanted to eat at the Pink house but we weren’t able to get reservations so that is on my list for next time!
