Our Trip to Boston

August 19, 2019

I wanted to take a weekend trip somewhere that I haven’t been before. I started looking at flights online and saw that there were direct flights from Jacksonville to Boston. I googled a little bit about Boston and decided that it would be a cool place to go! Tommy had only been there once before for a bachelor party.

We left on a Friday evening – I picked up Tommy from work and we headed to the airport. This was Madison’s first time flying and I was excited and a little anxious because I wasn’t sure what to expect. We flew first class so that we would have extra room since Madison was going to be sitting on our laps.

Once we arrived at the airport, we went through security and then waited at the Delta Sky lounge until it was time to board our flight. Madison did great! I nursed her when we took off and landed so her ears would pop. The flight was not too long either so it was a great first flight.

The baby carrier is from Tula.

Madison’s outfit is Posh Peanut!

Tommy’s sister met us in Boston to hang out and see Madison for the weekend!

We stayed at Beacon XV – we booked it thru American Express Platinum so we got the Fine Hotels perks – early check-in, late check-out, resort credit, free room upgrade if available, and included breakfast! We ate at the restaurant at the hotel once we checked in because it was already getting late. Tommy ordered the Half Century Whiskey flight which included whiskey from the 1930’s! He really enjoyed it.

The next day we started with breakfast at Tatte which was delicious. After breakfast, we did the Freedom Trail which takes you through downtown Boston and has several stops at places that have historical significance from the American Revolution. It was beautiful weather so it was a great day to do the trail. We didn’t stop at every stop and go inside every building but we did go to Paul Revere’s house which was neat. All the things we did in Boston were recommended to me by my friend, Danielle, who used to live in Boston!

We went to Row 34 for lunch. It was a cool atmosphere and our food was really good. Tommy enjoyed it because they had tons of oysters to choose from.

Exploring downtown!

We had dinner at Straga. It is an Italian restaurant and it is so delicious! We really enjoyed our meal here.

The next day, we slept in and relaxed in the morning. We made lunch on first meal of the day. We went to Bartaco and it was delicious! I’ve never been to one before – they don’t have any in Jacksonville. Madison enjoyed the kids guacamole!

After lunch, we walked around Boston and went to the Boston Public Market. We were flying home later that evening so we went back to our hotel to relax for an hour and then packed up and headed to the airport.

We flew home Sunday night and Madison did pretty well on the way home. We sat on the runway for a long time because there were so many planes trying to take-off and land! She got a little fussy waiting for take-off but once we were up she was fine. We really enjoyed our trip to Boston and will go back again to explore more!

Danielle
