That was my final bump picture with the Oh Baby! board. Madison was born at 39 weeks and 1 day.
4D ultrasound – we went and saw Madison in 4D which was so cool. I definitely recommend doing this in your third trimester when your baby really looks like it will when they arrive. If you go to close to the end, it can be harder to see your baby since they are big and cramped for space!
Headed out of town for our babymoon to Sea Island! Read more about that HERE.
One of our last ultrasounds at the OBGYN!
I wore this band towards the end because the baby was putting a lot of weight on my pelvis.
Headed to Ruth’s Chris one last time before baby comes!
Last week before baby arrives!

New Year’s Day – the day before baby Madi arrived!
The day before Madi arrived – we woke up and drank coffee outside on our porch together 🙂
During the third trimester:
-
Finished Madison’s nursery – read more about that HERE
-
I felt:
-
Lots of back and pelvic pain! She was a fairly large baby
-
Hypoglycemic – I carried snacks and gatorade with me all the time because if I didn’t snack I felt like passing out. There were several times where I almost passed out – felt hot, saw stars, heard ringing in my ears, and super nauseous. After that happened, I always keep snacks with me.
-
Rib pain – not only was the baby in my pelvis but she was also in my rib cage as well. It was so uncomfortable.
-
Anxious and excited for her arrival!
-
Like nesting! We organized the house, I donated old clothes, and we finished her nursery.
-
Big! I ended up gaining 42 pounds. My doctors were not worried about my weight gain and said they thought I would lose it easily. I did not have gestational diabetes. I never felt ginormous but I definitely felt big. It was hard to bend over to put shoes on! It was hard to put leggings on too because you have to pull them up lol! I did not swell too much except for my face. I think I was holding a lot of fluid in my belly and thighs. I noticed the biggest changes in my face, chest, belly, and thighs.
-
-
I took lots of baths and long showers because it made my rib, back, and pelvic pain feel better. I also went to the chiropractor once a week.
-
I went to the OBGYN several times (towards the end you go every week!) and they told me that baby Madison was measuring in the 90th percentile. We talked about different options for her birth including having a c-section because it presented the least amount of risk to her since she could get stuck in my pelvis and have shoulder dystocia or other problems! And even if I tried to have her naturally, I could still end up needing an emergency c-section. I spent a lot of time trying to decide what to do. I’ve never had a baby before so I didn’t know what would work and what would not. I will talk more about what we chose and why when I share her birth story.
